Snape Maltings
Dating back to 1865, Snape Maltings has become a world-renowned landmark on the Suffolk Coast, and is the county’s largest maltings complex. The Grade II listed building has retained all of its original features, spanning across seven acres of land overlooking the Alde Estuary and stunning marshland area.

Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of independent shops, far distant from the commercial high-street, celebrating local business, art and trade. From a women’s fashion retailer, food hall and kitchen store to art galleries and a craft shop, there is something for everyone and all ages.

Also a food hub on the Suffolk Coast, the Maltings plays an important role in supporting local farming and produce, hosting the Snape Maltings Farmers Market on the first Saturday of each month as well as the nationally recognised annual Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival, attended by leading chefs and food writers across the country. Daily visitors can enjoy the Tea Shop serving homemade cakes and light lunches through to the relaxed, contemporary style of Cafe 1885 with its team of Chefs utilising fresh local ingredients.

That’s not all. Benjamin Britten fell in love the Maltings and its surrounds, and alongside Peter Pears created one of the UK's finest concert halls back in 1948. Now the home of Aldeburgh Music, The Snape Maltings Concert Hall plays host to a year round arts programme.
