Christmas is just around the corner

2nd November

Christmas baublesSince the clocks have gone back, all of our hotels have been busy taking bookings for Christmas and New Year breaks and now is the time when people start to think about where to book for the office Christmas party. We’ve still got availability at our hotels if some of you are looking for a venue. To find out more, log onto our websites for more information.

So what’s new at Thorpeness & Aldeburgh Hotels? There’s an exciting story to tell about The Brudenell Hotel. It will close on January 3rd next year, when it will undergo a major refurbishment programme. It will re-open in early April 2010, with the aim of achieving AA 4 star status. We are refurbishing all of the bedrooms, the reception area, the front entrance and the restaurant.

For those of you who would like to keep up with what’s happening during the closure, we will be setting up a page on Facebook. A link and further information can be found on the website www.brudenellhotel.co.uk from early January onwards.

The Crown at Woodbridge has now been open for four months and continues to wow the critics. Steve’s on holiday at the moment having a well earned break with his family and will be back in a week’s time, fully refreshed and ready for the festive season. Why not pop along for some of the best festive lunches and dinners served in Woodbridge. To find out more, log onto www.thecrownatwoodbridge.co.uk. The festive menus will be online very shortly.

Exciting things have been happening at Thorpeness Hotel & Golf Club. Not only has the hotel undergone a re-branding programme, but it now has six additional bedrooms and new ladies and gentlemen’s changing rooms, which all look fantastic. The Bar and Patio Bar have also been refurbished, incorporating contemporary touches to the nostalgic feel of the Club House. The hotel recently welcomed a new head chef, but also an old friend. David Ryan, Masterchef of Great Britain, joined in July, having worked at The Swan at Lavenham for more than three years. He hosted his first coastal Masterchef Masterclass on Wednesday, which was a huge success. If you would like to receive a calendar of David’s future classes, call the hotel on 01728 452176.

Taking David’s place at The Swan is Nick Wilson, who previously worked as Jean Christophe Novelli’s right-hand man for more that seven years. Nick is also running monthly culinary masterclasses and details can be found on the website www.theswanatlavenham.co.uk.

Well, must go now. I’ll be in touch in the next few weeks with news and events from our five hotels in Suffolk.
