9th September
Sorry it’s been a while since I spoke to you last, but I’ve been rushed off my feet. Our hotels have been so busy this summer. In fact, it’s been our best August ever! As predicated, many people seemed to take their holiday in this country and I have heard tales of woe from those who ventured abroad and were stung by the wrath of the Euro. The weather’s been great too, which has been a blessing to us all.
The children have all gone back to school now and Aldeburgh is now quieter, although there are still plenty of people on holiday or day trippers visiting our restaurants for a delicious lunch. Talking of food, the Aldeburgh Food and Drink is just around the corner. It starts on the 26th September and it’s a fantastic event if you’ve not been before. It lasts for ten days and is basically a celebration of the fantastic food and drink that is produced in this part of Suffolk. There are so many things to do, including cookery demonstrations, farm walks, behind the scene tours of local producers such as Pinney’s at Orford or Emmett’s at Peasenhall and even demonstrations on game butchery. It’s a real foodie event and everyone seems to get involved, even our chefs, who will be doing cookery demonstrations on the 26th and 27th. Why not pop along and see them.
